My Journey at Knovik

Starting as a HR Intern and developing into the role of Junior HR Executive has been a major transformation personally and professionally. This article will share the hands –on experience of the challenges of remote work to hybrid mode, and how I developed my personal growth & professional career. And this provides an insightful idea of how Knovik set an example of an ideal work culture despite being a start-up company. 

The Beginning with Knovik

When I recently graduated in August 2023 specialized in Human Resource Management, my aim was to seek opportunities related to HR since I didn’t have past experiences. Unexpectedly I was hired to Knovik as the HR Intern after selecting from three stages of interview process, which is the turning point of my professional career.

With the excitement of starting off my career in a Tech startup, the first challenge was to work in a remote environment. Despite the remote setup, the warm welcome of the team changed the challenging atmosphere into ease.  

Overcoming the Challenges of Remote Work

The main challenges faced during the remote work period were to adapt for the new technological tools, maintain the communication among team members, balancing flexibility with productivity & time management.

The best practices I developed during this time were knowledge transferring from the relevant human resources, maintaining synchronized communication with all the team members, creating structured routines & engaging in the tasks according to the schedule.

In addition, I discovered how essential emotional intelligence is for managing relationships and tasks in a remote setting. Maintaining this balance became beneficial as I shifted into hybrid work, which allowed me to enjoy the best of both working environments & flexibility with the energy of in-office interactions.

Growing into a Junior HR Executive

With the more responsibilities I have obtained with the new job role as Junior HR Executive, I had the opportunity to contribute more to build Knovik’s workplace culture. The responsibilities were not limited into solely main HR functions as in recruitments, hiring, etc. Consequently, mentorship, decision making, strategic planning, modest technology, leadership skills, career development planning were essential lessons learned at Knovik.  One of the most important factor of Knovik has been to provide complete guidance on creating a career development plan.  

How to Create a Personalized Career Development Plan

Here’s a step-by-step guide I would recommend to any individual to build a career development plan on your own by following steps:

  1. Identify what you have & what you want to be
  2. Analyze what are your strengths and weaknesses, and what are your career goals. SWOT Analysis is the best method to analyze your strengths and weaknesses & define your career path.

  3. Differentiate your Goals
  4. After defining your career goals, break down the larger career goals into smaller, achievable goals. Start working on the smaller goals one by one.

  5. Regular Feedback
  6. Seek feedback on a regular basis from your peers, managers, even from professionals to measure your progress.

  7. Continuous Learning
  8. Learning new skills and certification which align with your career goals would be beneficial for you to improve and achieve your career goals.

  9. Adjust the Plan
  10. By following all the steps, you can draw a conclusion whether you need to continue with the plan or adjust the plan as your progress towards your goals.

The Impact of Knovik’s Work Culture on My Growth

Knovik’s work culture revolved around team collaboration, continuous learning & growth, mentorship guidance for personality & professional development. These factors directly impacted me to grow as an individual who has identified the career path & step into the industry with the leadership skills as an HR professional. 

As a growing company, Knovik has not limited the leadership roles to the senior members. In addition, the communication and decision-making processes are encouraged to all of the team members as individuals. 

How I Contribute to Building Culture at Knovik

As a part of the HR Team, I actively contribute to maintaining the work culture and building team collaboration through various ways apart from basic HR Functions. Here’s how I contributed to build the culture at Knovik: 

  1. Employee Engagement Activities
  2. Beyond basic HR functions, as a HR professional can be initiate programmes or events by organizing Corporate Social Responsibility Activities (CSR), Sports Tournaments, Annual Trips, Birthday Celebrations etc to improve employee satisfaction, team building & ideal work culture.

  3. Maintaining Company Policies & Practices
  4. By effectively communicating with team members, establishing company policies up-to-date, grievance handling, guiding the team members towards ethical behavior are helpful to create a safe work environment with peace & harmony.

  5. Supporting the Team with Learning & Development programmes
  6. Through performance reviews, HR person can identify the skill gap of an employee. Additionally, as a HR professional can coordinate training sessions to bridge the skill gap among the team. By organizing in-house training, outbound training will enable the skill development, build their career path and stay updated with the industry trends.

  7. Employer Branding & Marketing
  8. Employer Branding is essential to an organization to position in the industry. Hence, my efforts to enhance the employer branding by collaborating with the Marketing & Development team & managing social media marketing, as well as attracting top talents to Knovik by promoting the company culture.

    With these factors, I continue to take initiatives to the growth of the Knovik’s working culture, team collaboration, team career development & promote the employer branding.

Conclusion

The journey with Knovik has been a true privilege, which filled with opportunities for improving personal & professional life. Starting as a HR Intern & transforming into a Junior HR Executive, the wide experiences will be added colours to the journey of Knovik. Throughout the journey, Knovik has been a pillar for my success and providing opportunities to support others for their own journeys to establish.
